ISLAMABAD: China remained the top importer of Pakistan during the firsteight months of the current fiscal year, followed by United Arab Emirates(UAE) and Singapore.
The total imports from China during July-February (2018-19) were recordedat $6633.191 million against the $7326.706 million during July-February(2017-18), showing an decrease of 9.46 percent during the period, accordingto State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
This was followed by UAE, where from Pakistan imported goods worth$6266.141 million against the imports of $5793.779 million last year,showing positive growth of 8.15 percent.
Singapore was the at third top country from where Pakistan importedproducts worth $2396.914 million against the imports of $3043.270 millionlast year, showing the negative growth of 21.23 percent, SBP data revealed.
Among other countries, Pakistani imports from Saudi Arabia stood at$1977.522 million against $1994.299 million during last year, showingdecline of 0.84 percent while the imports from Qatar were recorded at$1441.123 million against $876.047 million last year, showing rise of 64.50percent, the data revealed.
The imports from United State of America (USA) were recorded at $1376.545million against $1218.547 million where as the imports from India wererecorded at $1145.941 million against $1095.595 million last year.
During the period under review, the imports from Japan were recorded at$1045.830 million against $1201.944 million whereas the imports from Kuwaitstood at $803.520 million against $755.639 million.
Pakistan’s imports from Indonesia were recorded at $745.866 million against$707.741 million where as the imports from Thailand stood at $709.899million against $693.396 million.
Similarly, the imports from Malaysia during the period under review wererecorded at $693.456 million against $622.333 million while the importsfrom Switzerland stood at $ 669.977 million against $644.687.
Pakistan’s imports from Germany were recorded at $727.122 million duringthe current fiscal year compared to $721.341 million last year, whereas theimports from Italy stood at $398.777 million against $380.080 million.
