ISLAMABAD: In a high-stakes operation that underscored Pakistan’s resolute defence posture, the Pakistan Air Force successfully thwarted an alleged Israeli threat targeting the Iranian delegation during critical US-Iran talks hosted in the capital.

Professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi of Tehran University, a key member of the Iranian team, disclosed the chilling details in an exclusive interview with Al Mayadeen.

Direct threats were received en route to Islamabad warning that the delegation’s aircraft could be attacked.

Tehran possessed prior intelligence confirming the negotiating team was earmarked for targeting on the Islamabad route.

Once the risk was verified the delegation immediately activated contingency measures and abandoned the original return path.

The aircraft was diverted mid-mission and made an unscheduled landing inside Iran at Mashhad.

From Mashhad the team members continued their journey separately by train and car to reach Tehran safely.

Regional media outlets including detailed reporting by Indian sources such as Times of India corroborated the extraordinary security protocols deployed by Pakistan.

Pakistan executed a sophisticated air deception operation to shield the Iranian jet from potential surveillance or targeting.

The actual aircraft followed a longer unpredictable route over Afghanistan before entering Pakistani airspace via Chaman.

Throughout the transit the Pakistan Air Force maintained a full aerial security umbrella featuring airborne early warning systems and fighter escorts reserved for the highest-risk missions.

Pakistani fighter jets were visibly positioned over Bandar Abbas in Iran establishing a protective shield extending across Iranian airspace and the Persian Gulf.

This ironclad escort ensured the delegation’s safe arrival and departure amid credible external threats.

The Pakistan Air Force currently operates more than 150 JF-17 Thunder multirole fighters forming the backbone of its combat fleet.

The advanced Block III variant equipped with AESA radar electronic warfare suites and beyond-visual-range missiles provides unmatched 4.5-generation capability.

Pakistan Aeronautical Complex produces between 16 and 20 JF-17 aircraft annually sustaining continuous modernisation and operational readiness.

Complementing the JF-17 fleet are upgraded F-16 Fighting Falcons and AWACS platforms delivering 360-degree real-time situational awareness.

These assets enabled precise threat monitoring and seamless coordination during the high-profile escort mission.

Defence analysts highlight that PAF’s swift response demonstrates Pakistan’s growing air power projection and commitment to safeguarding diplomatic processes.

The operation adds to the Pakistan Air Force’s distinguished record of executing complex protective missions in volatile regional environments.

Pakistan’s armed forces continue to enhance their capabilities through indigenous development and strategic partnerships reinforcing national deterrence.

The Iranian delegation led by senior officials including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf participated in talks aimed at stabilising post-ceasefire regional dynamics.

Negotiations collapsed abruptly yet the PAF’s intervention prevented any escalation that could have endangered lives or diplomatic efforts.

Marandi noted contemporaneous media rhetoric including a Washington Post opinion piece advocating strikes on Iranian leadership as contributing to the heightened threat environment.

Al Mayadeen’s coverage of the delegation’s firsthand account provided international authentication of the security concerns raised.

Regional reports further validated Pakistan’s proactive measures as essential in neutralising the alleged Israeli plot.

Pakistan Air Force’s deployment of decoy flights manipulated tracking data effectively misleading potential adversaries.

Such tactical brilliance reflects extensive operational experience accumulated over decades of safeguarding sovereignty.

With a total fighter strength exceeding 400 aircraft including advanced variants PAF ranks among the most capable air forces in the region.

The successful mission not only protected the Iranian delegation but also projected Pakistan’s image as a reliable guarantor of peace and security.

Pakistan remains steadfast in its foreign policy of constructive engagement while maintaining an unyielding defence shield against external threats.

The incident underscores the vital role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in fostering regional stability through strength and vigilance.

PAF’s modernised fleet and proven interoperability continue to serve as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s strategic deterrence.

As global attention focuses on Middle East developments Pakistan’s actions affirm its dedication to dialogue backed by robust military capability.

This episode will be remembered as a testament to the professionalism and readiness of the Pakistan Air Force in defending peace amid adversity.
