Federal government released huge funds worth Rs 301 billion for mega development projects

ISLAMABAD – Federal government released huge funds worth Rs 301 billionfor mega development projects.

The federal government has so far authorized release of Rs301.45 billionfor various ongoing and new social sector uplift projects under its PublicSector Development Programme (PSDP) 2019-20, as against the totalallocation of Rs 701 billion.

Under its development programme, the government has released an amount ofRs135.21 billion for federal ministries, Rs102.55 billion for corporationsand Rs21.7 billion for special areas, according to a latest data releasedby Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform.

Out of these allocations, the government released Rs26.78 billion forsecurity enhancement in the country for which the government had allocatedRs32.5 billion during the year 2019-20.

An amount of Rs40.67 billion has also been released for the blocks managedby Finance Division under the government’s 10 years development programme.

Similarly for Higher Education Commission, the government released anamount of Rs14.2 billion out of its total allocation of Rs 29 billion whileRs150.73 billion were released for Pakistan Nuclear Energy Authority forwhich the government had allocated Rs 301.48 billion in the developmentbudget.

For the National Highway Authority (NHA), the government released Rs95.38billion against its allocations of Rs154.96 billion. Under annualdevelopment agenda, the government also released Rs6.4 billion for RailwaysDivision out of total allocation of Rs16 billion, Rs4.56 billion forInterior Division, and Rs5.8 billion for National Health Services,Regulations, and Coordination Division.

The Revenue Division received Rs3.2 billion out of total allocation ofRs1.9 billion, whereas the Cabinet Division also received Rs19.3 billionfor which an amount of Rs39.986 billion has been allocated for the year2019-20.

The government also released Rs12.9 billion for Azad Jammu and Kashmir(AJK) block and other projects out of its allocations of Rs27.26 billionand Rs8.7 billion for Gilgit Baltistan (Block and other projects).
