Pakistan Italy bilateral consultations held, Key decisions taken

ISLAMABAD – The 4th round of Pakistan-Italy Annual Bilateral PoliticalConsultations was held in Islamabad on Thursday.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua led the Pakistan delegation, while theItalian side was headed by Secretary General of Italian Ministry of ForeignAffairs Elisabetta Balloni.

The two sides discussed the entire range of bilateral relations, includingregional and global issues of mutual interest.

They also agreed to further build on the already existing strongcooperation at the multilateral fora, in particular at the United Nations.

The Italian delegation was briefed about the government’s priorities andpeople centric reform agenda and on the situation of peace and security inthe region, including Pakistan-India relations and continuing graveviolation of human rights in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Italian Secretary General agreed on the importance of strengtheningcooperation in trade and investment, including through private sector jointventures.

The next round of Annual Bilateral Political Consultations will be held inRome next year at mutually convenient dates.
