CPEC projects: Federal government takes important decisions

ISLAMABAD – Planning Minister Khsuro Bakhtiyar has said ongoing projectunder China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will be completed within thestipulated time.

Talking to media in Islamabad today, he said progress will also be made onthe early harvest projects agreed under CPEC framework. He said prime focusof the government is to revamp economy, create job opportunities, andincrease manufacturing base in Pakistan.

He said industrial cooperation between China and Pakistan under CPEC shouldnot be limited to Special Economic Zones only. He said there will beindustrial relocation in Pakistan under larger industrial cooperationbetween Pakistan and China.

The Minister said ML-1 project for up-gradation of railway tracks fromKarachi to Peshawar will be done. This will increase Pakistan Railways’speed upto 160 kilometers per hour and ensure effective cargotransportation.

Khurso Bakhtiyar said the PTI government will take Gwadar as standaloneproject to explore its full potential as 80 percent of the world cargopasses through maritime routes.

He said it has also been decided during his meeting with Chinese delegationlast days that a new sub group in the Working Groups of CPEC will beformed. Now the group titled socio-economic development has been formed tolook for cooperation in education, health, skill development, housing,agriculture, and other sectors, he said.

The Minister said Pakistan provides connectivity to various regions andCPEC should be opened for other countries for investment. He said this willsend a message that Pakistan is open for business. He said two focalpersons have been appointed for third-party investment.
