SRINAGAR – The encounter between Indian Army and 2 militants holed up in abuilding in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar continued in the morning after anovernight lull.
The exchange of fire between the militants and the security forces resumedat daybreak, a CRPF official said.
“Encounter is still going on, we are operating cautiously to avoid anycollateral damage to citizens and property,” said Zulfiqar Hasan, InspectorGeneral Operation.
Meanwhile, banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed theresponsibility for both Sunjuwan attack and Karan Nagar CRPF
Saturday’s attack on the Army camp in Jammu is reportedly was the worst inmonths.
The body of another soldier was recovered on Tuesday from the encountersite inside the Sunjuwan Military camp here, taking the death toll in theterror attack to 10, including six Army personnel and three militants ofthe JeM.
The body of the Army jawan was recovered during the clearance operation atthe camp last night, Jammu-based Army Public Relation Officer Lt ColDevender Anand told PTI.
A group of heavily-armed men struck the sprawling camp of the 36 brigade ofthe Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry before dawn on February 10, killingsix people including five soldiers.
The bodies of the three militants of the Jaish-e- Mohammad (JeM) outfitwere also recovered along with huge cache of arms and ammunition during thesearch operation.
Meanwhile, Lt Col Anand said Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is attending thewreath-laying ceremony of the four slain soldiers, belonging to the KashmirValley, at the airport here.
