Chinese and Indian Armies meet in Ladakh over Chinese spring festival

NEW DELHI – A ceremonial Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) between Indian andChinese army on the occasion of Chinese spring festival was held on Tuesdayin Chushul sector of Ladakh region, an Indian Army statement said.

The statement said the meeting was held at Chinese BPM hut in Moldogarrison of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Chushul sector of easternLadakh.

“The delegations were led by Colonel Deependra Jasrotia on the Indian sideand Senior Lieutenant Colonel Bu Hong Dong from the Chinese side,” it said,adding that “the BPM was marked by saluting the national flag of China byboth the delegation members.

This was followed by the ceremonial address by both delegation leaderscovering exchange of greetings, wishes and vote of thanks which reflectedthe mutual desire of maintaining and improving relations at functionallevel at the border.”

Thereafter, a cultural programme showcasing vibrant Chinese culture andtraditional grandeur was organised, followed by lunch, the statement said.

“Both the delegations interacted in a free, congenial and cordialenvironment. The delegation parted amidst feeling of friendship andcommitment towards enhancing the existing cordial relations and maintainingpeace along the line of actual control (LAC),” it said.

Both sides also sought to build on the mutual feeling to uphold thetreaties and agreements signed between the governments of the two sides tomaintain peace and tranquillity along the LAC, according to the statement.- Agencies
