International Rights Group seek sanctions against Afghanistan defence minister

KABUL – International rights group Human Rights Watch has urged to imposesanctions on Afghanistan’s newly appointed acting defense ministerAsadullah Khalid over alleged war crimes and human rights abuses.

In a report, Asia Director at HRW Brad Adams said credible evidence ofserious human rights abuses and war crimes linked to Khalid have followedhim throughout his government career.

Brad Adams also called on donors including United States and Canada toimpose sanctions on Khalid, freeze his assets and ban him from entry.
