Former PM Nawaz Sharif’s fate to be decided today: Report

ISLAMABAD – Former PM Nawaz Sharif’s fate to be decided today, Media Reporthas revealed.

Federal Cabinet’s sub-committee will decide on Tuesday whether former primeminister Nawaz Sharif’s name should be removed from the Exit Control List(ECL) or not.

An application was filed by the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N)President Shahbaz Sharif, requesting that his elder brother’s name beremoved from the ECL so that he could fly to London for medical care.

The sub-committee will be chaired by Law Minister Farogh Naseem andcomprising Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on AccountabilityShahzad Akbar and the interior secretary, local media reported. Thecommittee will then apprise Prime Minister Imran Khan about itsrecommendation after which the PM would take the final decision.

The sub-committee has also issued notices to the PML-N president, hisrepresentative, Secretary Health Punjab and the medical board to appearbefore the committee. PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said thatAttaullah Tarrar and Dr Adnan will be present before the committee.

Nawaz’s flight to London has already been canceled twice as the governmentremains indecisive on the issue of removing him from the no-fly list. TheSharif family has already made all the arrangements at a London hospitalfor an advanced treatment of Nawaz’s multiple medical complications.

Last week, the Islamabad High Court granted bail to Sharif for eight weeksand suspended his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia corruption referenceon medical grounds.
