*ISLAMABAD: *The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI)-based weekly inflation forthe combined consumption group, as on Sept 5th, decreased by 0.24pc whencompared with the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the abovementioned group was recordedat 124.28 points, as against 124.58 points registered in the previous week,according to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS)on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest consumption group (up to Rs17,732)witnessed a decrease of 0.17pc, from 126.84 points to 127.06 points.
The weekly SPI with base 2015-16=100 covered 17 urban centres and 51essential items of all expenditure groups.
As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for thecombined consumption group in the week under review witnessed an increaseof 16.55pc, while for the lowest group, it increased by 13.88pc.
The SPI for the consumption groups from Rs17,733 to Rs22,888 witnessed anominal increase of 0.07pc, while that for consumption groups from Rs22,889to Rs29,517, Rs29,518 to Rs44,175 and above Rs44,175 per month, itdecreased by 0.02pc, 0.14pc and 0.40pc respectively.

During the week under review, average prices of 10 items registered adecrease, while that of 24 items prices increased with the prices of 17items remaining unchanged.
The prices of commodities that recorded a decrease in their prices duringthe week under review included bananas, petrol, tomatoes, LPG cylinder,diesel, eggs, sugar, pulses (mash, moong) and rice (irri-6).
The items that recorded an increase in their average prices included tea(packet), chicken, garlic, onions, pulse (masoor), potatoes, lawn, longcloth, wheat flour, gur, milk (powdered), cooking oil, cooked daal, mustardoil, mutton, pulse (gram), cooked beef, vegetable chillies (powder),vegetable ghee (tin), firewood, milk (fresh), curd and rice (basmatibroken).
Similarly, the prices of the commodities that observed no change in theirprice during the week under review included bread, beef, salt (powdered),tea (prepared), cigarettes, shirting, georgette, gents sandal, gentschappal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, energy saver,washing soap, matchbox, telephone call and toilet soap.
