*ISLAMABAD – Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost on Wednesdaycalled on federal minister for petroleum and natural resources GhulamSarwar Khan.*
The ambassador congratulated the federal minister on behalf of Iranianpetroleum minister on assuming new responsibilities, and invited him tovisit Iran to work on cooperation in the petroleum sector and theIran-Pakistan gas pipeline.
The ambassador also offered further cooperation for exploration in theenergy sector especially IP gas pipeline, and the import of petroleumproducts to curb smuggling.
He said that IP gas pipeline will be a game changer for the region and thatseveral other countries are willing to cooperate in construction of thepipeline.
The minister acknowledged the cooperation offered by Iran in areas ofelectricity supply to coastal areas. He said that both countries need morecooperation and investment in areas of energy and petroleum
“Pakistan is fully committed to implement IP gas pipeline project withoutany foreign pressure,” the minister said and agreed on the need to increasebilateral relations.
The federal minister accepted the invitation to visit Iran. Both agreed tohold a meeting of working group on IP gas pipeline before the minister’svisit to Iran.
The minister said Pakistan is committed to implement IP gas pipelineproject, but the project was delayed in the past due to internationalsanctions. He said that Pakistan prioritises the IP gas project more thanany other gas pipeline project.
