Nine Pakistani soldiers were killed along with three militants in a deadly attack in the restive southwest region of Pakistan, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on August 12, 2025, in the Washuk district of Balochistan, an area long troubled by insurgent violence. Dozens of militants launched a coordinated assault on a police station and a border force compound, leading to fierce clashes with security personnel.
According to official reports, nine soldiers lost their lives during the firefight, while three militants were also killed in the operation. The attack underscores the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where militant groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have frequently targeted security forces and critical infrastructure.
In response to escalating violence in the region, Pakistani authorities have taken measures including suspending mobile data services in parts of Balochistan, aiming to disrupt insurgent communications and restore order.
The government continues to emphasize its commitment to stabilizing the province and combating militant activities that threaten peace and security in the southwest of the country.
