*LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has devised a comprehensivestrategy to arrest former premier Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif asthe PML-N leaders return to Pakistan on Friday*.
According to sources within the anti-graft authority, NAB Lahore has formeda 16-member team headed by NAB director Amjad Ali for the purpose. The teamcomprises nine NAB officers and several police officers.
Sources add that a chopper has been arranged to shift the convicts toRawalpindi.
On the other hand, Punjab province’s caretaker government has also deviseda plan to prevent any unrest in the city.
PML-N president Mian Shehbaz Sharif, however, has asked party workers towelcome the duo in large numbers.
It is pertinent to note here that an accountability court on July 6, handedNawaz Sharif 10 years as jail time for owning assets beyond income and 1year for not cooperating with NAB in the Avenfield properties corruptionreference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
His daughter Maryam Nawaz was given 7 years for abetment, and her husbandCaptain (retd) Safdar was given 1 year for non-cooperation with theanti-graft authority.
Captain (retd) Safdar was arrested on Sunday, July 8 while Maryam Nawaz andNawaz Sharif are due to return on July 13, Friday.
