ISLAMABAD – President Mamnoon Hussain has promulgated the Anti-terrorism(Amendment) Ordinance, 2018, further amending the Anti-terrorism Act, 1997.
The Ordinance, promulgated by the President on February 9, 2018, inexercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 89 of theConstitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, shall come into force atonce.
Following is the text of Ordinance dated February 9, 2018 and issued by theMinistry of Law and Justice here on Monday:-
“AN ORDINANECfurther to amend the Anti-terrorism Act, 1997
WHEREAS, it is expedient further to amend the Anti-terrorism Act, 1997(XXVII of 1997) for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
AND WHEREAS, the Senate and the National Assembly are not in session andthe President is satisfied that circumstances exist which render itnecessary to take immediate action;Now, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) ofArticle 89 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, thePresident is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-Short title and commencement.-(1)
This Ordinance may be called the Anti-terrorism (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018.
(2) It shall come into force at once.2. Amendment of section 11B, Act XXVII of 1997.- In the Anti-terrorism Act,1997 (XXVII of 1997), herein after referred to as “the Act”, in section11B, in sub-section (1), after clause (a), the following new clause shallbe inserted, namely:-
“(aa) listed under the United Nations (Security Council) Act, 1948 (XIV of1948), or”.
3. Amendment of section 11EE, Act XXVII of 1997.- In the Act in section11EE, in sub-section (1), after clause (a), the following new clause shallbe inserted, namely:-
“(aa) listed under the United Nations (Security Council) Act, 1948 (XIV of1948); or”.”
