ISLAMABAD – Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Azam Khan Swati has saidgovernment fully supports accountability across the board.
He was winding up a discussion on a motion moved by Raja Zafar-ul-Haq andothers regarding alleged political victimization and denial of fundamentalrights to members of opposition.
The Minister invited the opposition to sit with the government to improveNAB laws if they find any lacuna in this regard.
Azam Khan Swati said the cabinet and Prime Minister has condemned thecancellation of citizenship of former senator Hafiz Hamdullah.
Taking part in discussion, Senator Pervez Rashid said government has failedto fulfill its promises made at the time of elections.
Senator Semi Ezdi said corruption cases on opposition were not made inPTI’s government. She said Panama leaks were not initiated by thegovernment but it was revealed in PML-N regime.
Senator Mushahidullah criticized the government for victimization of thepolitical opponents.
Senator Rehman Malik said there should be a difference between accused andconvict. He said Asif Ali Zardari is in jail without conviction. He saidNational Accountability Bureau laws need to be amended and consensus of allparties is required in this regard.
Senator Javed Abbasi in his remarks said government is targeting PPP andPML-N. He said leaders of oppositions parties have been jailed withoutconviction.
The House will now meet tomorrow at 3:30 pm.
