Pakistan Foreign Office responds over big tragedy in Karbala, Iraq, clarifies report on Pakistani pilgrims

*ISLAMABAD: **Pakistan Foreign Office responds over big tragedy in KarbalaIraq while clarifies report that there was no Pakistani pilgrims among thevictims. *

*Pakistan expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the pilgrimswho died in a stampede at Karbala, Iraq on Tuesday.*

Foreign Office spokesperson said that today’s stampede in Karbala hasresulted in around twenty deaths and 70 injuries, and no one among them wasPakistani.

In a statement, the spokesperson said Pakistan Embassy Camp Office inKarbala is closely monitoring the situation.

The spokesperson extended sincere condolences to the bereaved families andprayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

At least 31 pilgrims diedlink Tuesday in astampede at a major shrine in Iraq’s Karbala where they were marking theholy day of Ashura, the health ministry said in a new toll.

Ministry spokesman Saif al-Badr said the toll could rise even further, asanother 100 people were injured including 10 in critical condition.
