ISLAMABAD – CJP Justice Asif Saeed Khosa reveals unprecedented initiativeslaunched in Pakistan Judicial system.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khosa says the judiciary iscommitted to play its role as per the law and the constitution.
Addressing a ceremony marking new Judicial Year at Supreme Court inIslamabad on Wednesday, he said efforts are afoot to reduce the burden ofpending cases.
The Chief Justice said model courts have been set up in 116 districts ofthe country for dispensation of instant and inexpensive justice.
He said the number of military cases in Quetta and Karachi Registry of theSupreme Court has reached zero. He said the military cases in the SupremeCourt Islamabad will also be disposed of in a few days.
The Chief Justice said a research center will be established at the SupremeCourt.
Speaking on the occasion, the Attorney General said the incumbent ChiefJustice kept the focus on the provision of speedy justice to masses. Forthis purpose, he said, model courts were established.
The Attorney General said the model courts disposed of over sixteenthousand cases during the current year.
He said the International Court of Justice has also expressed itsconfidence in the judicial system of Pakistan.
Talking about Police Reforms, he said a Police Reforms Committee wasconstituted under the umbrella of Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan inthe last judicial year. The Committee decided to set up Superintendent ofPolice (Complaints) office in every district of the country to address thegrievances of general public.
The Chief Justice said, under the Expeditious Justice Initiative, ModelFamily Courts and Model Rent Courts are being established in every districtof the country. He said under this initiative, Gender-based Violence Courtshave also been established throughout the country and about one hundredjudges of trial courts were imparted training in the field with theassistance of Asian Development Bank.
The Chief Justice said the Supreme Court has decided to introduceArtificial Intelligence system and active consultations are already afootwith different expert bodies in this regard.
He said the apex court started the E-Court system which is the first of itskind in the entire world. He said this modern system has helped earlydisposal of cases.
