GILGIT – Heavily armed terrorists attacked the police check post in GilgitBaltistan, media has reported.
Three policemen were martyred while two terrorists were killed in anattack on a check post in Kargah Nullah area of Gilgit-Baltistan onSaturday.
According to sources, a group of five terrorists attacked a police checkpost in the Kargah area. As a result, three policemen embraced martyrdom;however in retaliatory firing one terrorist was also killed, while hisaccomplices fled the scene. Police said that the terrorist was involved inrecent attacks on schools in Diamer.
Soon after the incident, Police called the addition contingent and starteda search operation in the area.
The bodies and injured were shifted to the District Headquarters HospitalGilgit for autopsies and treatment, respectively.
GB government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq paid tribute to the martyredpersonnel and said that security has been put on high alert across theprovince.
