Sharifs new plan to influence General Elections, includes foreign pressure on Army

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday planned toinfluence the upcoming polls with the withdrawal of Nawaz Sharif’s counseland unavailability of new lawyer.

Sources said that the PML-N wanted to delay the judgement of the trialcourt to raise doubts on the judicial system during the election campaign.

“The former prime minister’s London visit is also part of delayingtactics,” sources added.

Sources further quoted as saying that the PML-N supremo has also directedhis team to object to the TORs for the appointments in the Army.

On the other hand, several senior party leaders have suggested Nawaz Sharifnot to take the hard line because the Army wants democracy to flourish andto hold elections in the country in a peaceful environment.

“PML-N ran campaign through foreign media against Army for influencing thenational media,” sources added.

Earlier, defence lawyer Khawaja Harris had excused himself fromrepresenting ex-prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif in National AccountabilityBureau (NAB) references.

Khawaja Harris said that the Supreme Court did not accept his stance ofcompleting the trial in six weeks. I was being dictated even after judicialhours, he added.

He also expressed reservations over holding court proceedings on Saturdaysand Sundays, saying that he cannot work under such circumstances.
