*LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday requested anaccountability court to issue arrest warrants for Opposition Leader in theNational Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and order his extradition.*
Accountability Judge Jawadul Hassan resumed the hearing of the Ashianahousing scheme and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases today.
A lawyer representing the PML-N president and his son Hamza Shehbazappeared before the judge and filed an application requesting the court togrant his clients exemption from appearance in today’s proceedings.
To a question about the whereabouts of the father-son duo, the counsel saidShehbaz has been out of the country for his treatment while Hamza couldn’tturn up owing to his ill-health.
The judge asked the counsel if Shehbaz will return to the country withintwo weeks.
At this, the lawyer replied he has submitted the PML-N president’s medicalreport in the court, according to which he has been advised by doctors tostay put for his treatment for some time.
He said his client wanted to appear in the court.
Opposing the exemption plea of the accused, NAB lawyer Waris Janjuacontended before the court that Shehbaz went abroad without seeking priorpermission from the court. He, therefore, requested the court to initiateaction against Shehbaz and issue warrants for his arrest.
He further demanded that the court issue directives for extradition of thePML-N leader.
