KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama/APP) – A coalition of 29 non-governmentalorganisations (NGOs) has come up in support of the Malaysian Government’sdecision in disallowing Israeli athletes into the country for the WorldPara Swimming Championships 2019 due in July, Bernama said on Friday. It said such action was in line with the long-held policy of the governmentto bar any Israeli passport holder from entering the country, and that thepolicy should be maintained without any exception.”Boycotting and isolating Israel is the very least that can and should bedone to express moral outrage. If it worked against apartheid South Africa,it will work against apartheid Israel.”The Malaysian government is doing the right thing in barring Israelis fromthis country,” the coalition said in a statement.Among the NGOs are Palestinian Cultural Organisation Malaysia, VivaPalestina Malaysia, al-Quds Foundation Malaysia, Humanitarian Care Malaysiaand ASEAN Coalition for Palestine. The group also reminded that during the Great Return March by Palestiniansin Gaza, the Zionist regime had no compunction in instructing its militarysharpshooters to target unarmed men, women and children, includingjournalists, nurses in full uniform and the physically disabled.Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Thursday that the governmentmaintained its stand of prohibiting Israeli athletes from competing in the2019 World Para Swimming Championships in Kuching, Sarawak from July 29 toAug 4.He said if the Israeli squad was insistent on participating in thechampionships, it would be a violation of the ban.
