Sensitive Price Indicator SPI based inflation decreased in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI)-based weekly inflation forthe combined consumption group (as on December 5) decreased by 0.83pc ascompared to the previous week.

The SPI for the week under review in the above-mentioned group was recordedat 135.18 points as against 136.80 points registered in the previous week,according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The weekly SPI was collected with base 2015-16=100, covering 17 urbancenters and 51 essential items for all expenditure groups.

The SPI for the lowest consumption group, up to Rs17,732, witnessed 0.18pcdecrease, as it went down from 136.80 points in the last week to 136.18points during the week under review.

As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for thecombined consumption group in the week under review witnessed an increaseof 18.57pc, while for the lowest group, it increased by 18.99pc.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the consumption groups from Rs17,733 to Rs22,888,from Rs22,889 to Rs29,517, Rs29,518 to Rs44,175 and above Rs44,175 permonth also decreased by 1.10pc, 1.00pc, 0.96pc and 0.72pc, respectively.

During the week under review, average prices of 12 items registered adecrease, prices of 14 items increased while that of 25 items remainedunchanged.
