Indian security agencies have arrested three suspected ISIS operatives fromGujarat for allegedly planning large-scale attacks across India. Thearrests were made during a joint operation conducted by the NationalInvestigation Agency (NIA) and state police following a weeks-longsurveillance effort.
According to initial reports, the suspects were in contact with foreignhandlers linked to ISIS and were plotting to target crowded public placesand vital installations in multiple Indian cities. Intelligence sourcesrevealed that digital evidence and communication records confirmed theirassociation with the banned terror outfit.
Officials seized electronic gadgets, radical literature, andexplosive-making materials during raids carried out in several parts ofGujarat. The NIA is now investigating possible links of the suspects withsleeper cells in other states.
A senior NIA officer said, “This operation has prevented a major terrorattack. We are further examining their network and funding sources.”
The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of Indian security forces todismantle terror networks operating within the country and ensure nationalsecurity amid rising concerns of radicalization through online platforms.
