Punjab government makes big announcement about government hospitals across province

*MULTAN – Punjab government has made big announcement for the governmenthospitals in Punjab.*

*Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Monday announced thatemergency departments of all hospitals in the province will now providefree medicine to patients.*

Addressing media in Multan, the health minister said that as a part ofPTI-led government’s health reforms, the provincial setup has decided todirect all government-run hospitals in the province to provide freemedicines in their emergency sections.

“We are also introducing health cards and will distribute them in 36districts within three months. These (health cards) will be provided topeople living below the poverty line,” said Yasmin Rashid.

Answering questions by reporters, the health minister lamented that theprevious government only spent money on projects like the orange train andmetro-buses while neglecting areas of human development and health sector.

“You will, God willing, see meaningful reforms within three months as PTIgovernment promised,” said the minister.

She also said that the provincial government has directed all hospitals toappoint a formal spokesperson to brief media about any mishap or untowardincident in the medical facility.

About expediting the reforms process in South Punjab, she assured mediathat health facilities in South will be improved “on priority basis”.
