ISLAMABAD – Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will visit Afghanistan onSeptember 15 to discuss the bilateral matters with the Afghan leadership.
It will be the first foreign visit of FM Qureshi after securing theposition after the invitation of Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani.
According to analyst, the visit is deemed interesting and full ofchallenges for Qureshi who will held a significant meeting with Afghanpresident Ashraf Ghani. Qureshi will extend the invitation of PrimeMinister Imran Khan to Ghani for Pakistan visit.
Qureshi had announced to make his maiden foreign visit to Kabul aftermeeting with United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
During the meeting, matters related to situation in Afghanistan and Afghanpeace talks also came under discussion, while war on terror and Pakistan’srole were also discussed.
The Secretary had emphasized the important role Pakistan could play inbringing about a negotiated peace in Afghanistan, and conveyed the need forPakistan to take sustained and decisive measures against terrorists andmilitants threatening regional peace and stability.
