ISLAMABAD: The Panama JIT report has revealed a letter by the UAE government which has totally negated the claims made by the cousin of the Tariq Shafi regarding the money trail presented to the Panama JIT.
The UAE government Ministry of Justice letter has negated the sale of shares of the company, the scrap transfer and other claims made by the PM family.
The letter was in reply to the request made by the head of the JIT Wajid Zia regarding the record.
The Joint Investigation Team (JI) has recommended to Supreme Court of Pakistan that a reference be filed against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his sons Hussain Nawaz and Hasan Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar with the National Accountability Bureau, country’s top anti-corruption watchdog.
The JIT has found disparities between the wealth and known source of income of the respondents.
The JIT submitted it 256-page report to the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday two months after it was formed in the light of Supreme Court of Pakistan’s order in Panama Papers case.
The report has also found discrepancies in the life style of the respondents and their wealth.
The report reads: “The financial structure and health of the companies in Pakistan having linkages to the Respondents also do not substantiate the wealth of Respondents”.
