ISLAMABAD – Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry FawadHussain Saturday said the government was ready to constitute a commissionto probe the alleged rigging in the general election, as per demand of theopposition.
Responding to the allegations leveled by Leader of the Opposition inNational Assembly Shehbaz Sharif in a video message, he said the oppositionhad so far failed to elaborate the nature of the rigging allegations. Alsothe opposition had not yet submitted Terms of References (TORs) to probethe alleged rigging charges.
He regretted that the opposition was using the issue of election rigging asa political stunt that too without producing any concrete evidence in thisregard. The opposition should better present concrete proposals to probethe alleged rigging.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Khan Swati had done acommendable job regarding inefficiency of Result Transmission System (RTS).
Denying opposition’s allegations of curtailing China Pakistan EconomicCorridor (CPEC) projects, he said the government would complete all CPECprojects besides ensuring transparency and effectiveness.
Regarding increase in gas, fertilizer and electricity prices, he said thegovernment had not increased their prices. The PML-N government haddestroyed the gas, electricity and fertilizer departements ,he added.
He said the government was resolving the issue of circular debts.
Strongly denying the allegations of revenge leveled by Shehbaz Sharif,Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were convicted and sent toAdiyala Jail during the government of his own party Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz and accusations of leader of the Opposition in National AssemblyShehaz Sharif was surprising and astonishing. Nawaz Sharif and Maryam werefacing corruption allegations and could not prove the source of theirincome and assets,he added.
He said nobody had ever made such whooping money in such a short period oftime.
He said the PTI government was taking measures to steer the country out ofcrisis. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan was the man of commitment aseverybody the believes that he woud spend the donated amount honestly andat the right place.
He said the government had assumed that the opposition would announcedonations in dam fund, instead they resorted to criticizing the donationappeal. Opposition members should have donated at least $ 1,000 each in thedams fund. Their donated amount would be spent on construction of dams.
