PPP claims majority in Senate

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has claimed majority in theSenate with the support of independents from FATA and Balochistan.

PPP leader Dr. Qayoom Soomro has claimed that the party enjoys the supportof 57 senators for the position of Chairman Senate.

Co-chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari has reportedly invited independentsenators from Balochistan for tea in the afternoon today.

In the meeting, planning for Chairman and Deputy Chairman Senate will befinalized. Also, Zardari will meet senators from FATA later on in the sameregard. In the Senate, 33 senators belong to the PPP.

Amidst political maneuvering for the coveted positions in the Upper House,Balochistan House Islamabad has become a haunt for political bigwigs as PPPcontemplates nominating Sadiq Sanjrani and Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar fromBalochistan. CM Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo met Asif Zardari and CMKPK in separate sittings and has already entrusted Zardari with coming upwith a name worthy of the esteemed position.

Overnight, CM Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak met CM Balochistan andpledged PTI’s support for bringing Chairman Senate from the biggestprovince of Pakistan at the behest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Currently, 13 senators in the Upper House of the Parliament belong to thePTI.
