Melbourne: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar ‘came out of retirement’to bat an over for a charity match to aid Australian bushfire relief at theJunction Oval, Melbourne on Sunday.
The former India batsman faced Australian women’s team fast bowler EllysePerry in the special over, his first appearance on the cricket field in”five and a half years”.
Sachin Tendulkar hit a boundary off the first ball, thanks to a misfield bya woman fire-fighter, who had come to field for Ellyse Perry for thespecial cause.
He was not expected to take to the field due to a shoulder injury but the46-year-old great did so for charity during the innings break of the10-over match.
Perry’s Australian teammates, who had just beaten England in a Twenty20game, fielded for the six balls.

He played his last international in November 2013 but has appeared in theoccasional exhibition match since.
Tendulkar said it was his first time batting for five-and-a-half years.
