KABUL – New developments have been reported in Turkmenistan, Afghanistan,and Pakistan (TAP) power transmission Lines in capital Kabul today.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said $1.6 billionagreement was signed in the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani andother senior government officials between the Ministry of Energy and Waterand Calik Holding, Khaama Press has reported.
The statement further added that the transmission line will have a lengthof 750 kilometers from Torghondi port to Spin Boldak in Kandahar.
According to ARG Palace, Calik Holding will invest up to 1.6 billion USDollars on TAP power transmission line which includes 500kV transmissionline and two circuits with a capacity of 2000 megawatts as well asconstruction of 500kV substations in Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.

The capacity of the transmission line for Afghanistan has been consideredat 1000 megawatts which would be completed over a period of three years,ARG Palace said, adding that 1000 megawatts of electricity would betransmitted to Pakistan that would produce up to 100 million US Dollars intransit fees for Afghanistan besides receiving the required electricity fordomestic needs.
