US Drone strike in Nangarhar, Afghanistan along borders with Pakistan kills 38 ISIS militants

KABUL – Two drone strikes have been reported in Nangarhar province ofAfghanistan bordering Pakistan.

Atleast thirty eight militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraqand Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) were killed in separate drone strikes in twodistricts of Nangarhar province.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East in a statementsaid the airstrikes were carried out in Abdul Khel, Ghiaban, Jurnao, Chinararea of Bandar, leaving at least 16 ISIS-K militants dea.

The U.S. forces also carried out similar airstrikes in Wazir Tangi area ofKhogyani district, leaving at least 12 militants dead and 10 others wounded.

The anti-government armed militant groups incuding ISIS loyalists have notcommented regarding the report so far.

Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan butthe Taliban militants and ISIS loyalists have been attempting to expandtheir foothold and activities in this province.
