Six nation international hockey tournament in Pakistan faces a setback

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Friday wrote a letter to AsianHockey Federation (AHF) demanding to assure the participation of all teamsin the Six-Nation Hockey Tournament, scheduled to take place in Lahore fromSeptember 26, 2018.

PHF officials said Pakistan is a safe country for international activitiesand we had successfully hosted the World XI tour to Pakistan earlier thisyear.

“If any team is not willing to tour Pakistan due to some personalcommitments than the tournament can also be postponed for some time but allteams must participate in the mega event,” PHF demanded AHF in a statementissued here.

PHF said this event is very important for the revival of internationalhockey in Pakistan, therefore, the participation of all teams is necessaryfor the extravaganza,” PHF said.

Besides Pakistan, PHF said other teams that were to participate in thetournament included Oman, Qatar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, andAfghanistan.

“However Oman, Qatar, and Sri Lanka have pardoned from participation in theevent due to financial reasons,” PHF said.

PHF said PHF will only host a full Six-Nation Hockey Tournament in Lahorethis month.
