Big protest erupt in Dhaka, Bangladesh against India over Occupied Kashmir

DHAKA – Big protest erupt in Dhaka, Bangladesh against India over OccupiedKashmir.

Hundreds of Bangladeshi protesters took to the streets of Dhaka to protestneighbouring India’s decision to scrap special status for occupied Kashmir.

Many of those joining the protest outside Bangladesh’s national mosque weremembers of the Islamist political party Islami Andolan Bangladesh. Leadingparty member Maulana Zakaria addressed the crowd, saying the move by Indiahas “hurt and angered the global Muslim community”.

On August 5, amid escalating tension in occupied Kashmir followingdeployment of tens of thousands of additional troops, the Indian governmentended special status of the valley while scrapping articles 35A and 370 ofthe Constitution.

In a malicious attempt to turn Muslim majority into minority in occupiedKashmir, the Indian president has signed a four-point amendment decree inthis regard.

According to details, the announcement was made by Indian Home MinisterAmit Shah during his address in Rajya Sabha, upper house of Indianparliament. Shah said, “Kashmir will no longer be a state. It will bedivided into two union territories – Kashmir, which will have alegislature, and Ladakh, which will be without a legislature.” He also toldthat the valley would be re-organized geographically.”

The revocation of the articles has allowed other non-Muslim Indian citizensto buy land in the valley while a separate legislative assembly will beestablished there for its own laws.

As India maintains a telecoms blackout to deter protests in Kashmir, COASBajwa said that the country’s military would “go to any extent” to supportthe people of the disputed region.
