ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has re-elected with the highest number of votes as amember of the U.N. Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC).
Talking to APP Pakistan’s Representative to the United Nations MaleehaLodhi said in secret balloting in the 54-member council, Pakistan secured48 votes to retain its seat on 18-member Commission on Narcotic Drugs forfour year term beginning from 1st January 2020.
She said Pakistan has served the commission continuously since 2008,assisting the United Nations in supervising the application ofinternational drug control treaties.
Dr Maleeha Lodhi said it is recognition of Pakistan’s positive contributionto the work of the world body.
