ISLAMABAD – Ministry of Housing will construct around 500, 000 housingunits for the low income families throughout the country under Apna GharScheme.
An official of the Ministry told APP that presently, there is a shortfallof approximately 9 to10 million houses in the country and the presentgovernment is making concerted efforts to bridge the gap.
He said under the scheme, the government will provide houses to shelterless families by constructing low-cost units on state land in differentlocalities.
The official said, to ensure cost effective access to credit for housing,the government will pick up a portion of the financing cost as subsidy.
He said in order to commence execution work for launching the housingproject, Apna Ghar limited company has been registered with SecuritiesExchange Commission of Pakistan.
He further said all the initial work of the project has been completed andsufficient chunks of state land have been identified for the launching ofthe project.
