DHAKA – Muslim Parties in Bangladesh announced massive countrywide protestagainst Indian PM Narendra Modi visit to Dhaka.

Indian Prime Minister Narendara Modi is scheduled to visit Bangladesh onMarch 17 to join the state program marking the country’s founding presidentSheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary.
Thousands of Islamist political activists are holding rallies and broughtout processions in Dhaka protesting against Indian prime minister NarendraModi’s upcoming visit to Bangladesh and vowed to resist him in the country.
They blamed Modi for recent killing of Muslims in Indian capital New Delhifor protesting against ‘communal law’ of Citizenship Amendment Act andNational Register of Citizens and termed him ‘a killer of Muslims’.
One of the protests was organised by the Samamana Islami Dalgulo, a combineof like-minded Islamist parties, while the other protest was organised bythe Islami Andolan Bangladesh. They staged demonstrations at BaitulMukarram National Mosque premises and adjacent areas to press home theirdemands.
According to reports, the Muslim parties have announced a countrywideprotest for March 12 and a human chain will be formed. The protesters havebeen asked to join the rally wearing black shrouds, carrying black flags,and shoes.
The protesters are also planning to cordon off the airport route on March17.
The large-scale violence in India’s national capital Delhi that left 51people dead and over 400 injured in Hindu-Muslim clashes has evoked a sharpresponse from the international community.
