ISLAMABAD – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday informedSupreme Court that the process of extradition of former finance ministerIshaq Dar is in progress.
This was informed to a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Main SaqibNisar in a case related to the apex court July 28, 2017 order, for Dar’sallegedly having assets beyond known sources of income.
Justice Nisar questioned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s failureto repatriate the of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader IshaqDar.
To which, NAB counsel Jahanzeb Bharwana said extradition was in the processwhile Dar’s properties had been sealed.
However Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked that it had been two months since theassets were confiscated. Bharwana said the bureau had replied to Britishgovernment’s letter in the matter and was awaiting its response.Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said that departments doing nothing exceptpaper work.
At this time, Justice Nisar asked about the progress in recovery of moneyfrom former Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) managing director AttaulHaq Qasmi, Fawad Hasan Fawad, and former minister for information PervaizRashid.Responding to the query, Principal Information Officer who was present inthe court said that tomorrow notices will be served to all respondents inthis regard.
It is pertinent to note that an accountability court had orderedauthorities to auction Dar’s movable and immovable assets and seize hisbank accounts as he has not only failed to appear before the court but oversix months have passed since the court attached his assets. – APP
