Very Encouraging News for Pakistanis Seeking Employment Overseas

ISLAMABAD: Around 337,000 Pakistanis have secured employment abroad between January 1 and June 30, 2025, according to official data from the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), an attached department of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.

Of the 275,669 total foreign job openings registered with the BEOE during this period, 143,854 have already been utilized, leaving around 131,817 positions still available.

Since its establishment in 1971, the BEOE has facilitated overseas employment for over 10 million Pakistani workers. The year 2015 marked a record high, with 946,571 citizens moving abroad for work.

Officials underscored the importance of overseas employment to the national economy, contributing significantly to foreign remittances which support debt repayment, imports, poverty reduction, infrastructure development, and broader economic activity.

As a regulatory authority, the BEOE oversees and manages the emigration process through licensed Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs) as well as individuals pursuing direct employment abroad. It collects, compiles, and maintains emigration data to aid in government policy-making.

The bureau operates under the Emigration Ordinance of 1979, with key responsibilities including the regulation of emigration, protection of emigrants’ rights, issuance of OEP licenses, and the delivery of pre-departure briefings. Its operations are monitored through seven Protectorate of Emigrants offices across Pakistan.
