WASHINGTON – United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursdaytelephoned Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa andemphasized on strengthening the mutual ties between both states.
In a statement issued from the office of the US spokesperson HeatherNauert, Pompeo and General Bajwa discussed ways to enhance Pak-US bilateralrelations.
They also exchanged views over need for political reconciliation inAfghanistan and to do more for indiscriminate operation against terroristgroups in South Asia.
Earlier, President of the United States Donald *Trump had categoricallysaid “no more” aid to Pakistan*link> inhis tweet. He said that they foolishly gave over 33 billion dollars in aidto Pakistan over the past 15 years.
He slammed Pakistan for only providing lies and deceit in reaction.
Trump reaffirmed his allegation that Pakistan provides safe haven to theterrorists and doesn’t cooperate in the anti-terrorism operation againstthe banned outfits in Afghanistan. “They give safe haven to the terroristswe hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” he tweeted.
In November, the US Congress had given *green signal to release around 700million dollars*link>underthe umbrella of Coalition Support Fund, a reimbursement amount for Pakistanon its continued support of US operations in Afghanistan.
