PML-N top leader Zafarullah Jamali joins PTI

QUETTA: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) faced a big setback inBalochistan as former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has decidedto join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Jamali called PTI provincial president Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, andannounced his intention to join the party along with his companions. Rindappreciated the services of Jamali for the nation, and agreed hold ameeting soon.

Jamali had parted way with the PML-N after differences with the party overconfrontation with the national institutions. He resigned from the NationalAssembly on May 18 just weeks before the government completed its tenure.

Despite being a senior member of the PML-N, he had been openly criticisingthe government and its policies for a while. He strongly criticised the taxamnesty scheme and some of the other initiatives taken by the PML-Ngovernment. He also raised strong objections to amendments inKhatam-e-Nabuwat clauses.

The veteran politician launched his political career in the 1970s fromBalochistan. He has also served as chief minister of Balochistan during thelate 80s and 90s. He was associated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid(PML-Q) during the military rule of Pervez Musharraf.
