KARACHI – Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) on Tuesday announcedthat 34 Indian fishermen have been arrested for entering into Pakistaniwaters and fishing illegally.
The agency said during an early morning open sea operation the fishermen insix different boats were found violating international water boundaries byfishing within Pakistani territories.
They, along with their boats, were taken into custody and followingnecessary interrogation were handed to Dock Police to fulfill requiredlegal action.
Earlier this year, Pakistan had announced to release 360 Indian prisonersincluding 355 fishermen and five civilians during the month of Aprillinka good will gesture.
The prisoners were released in four batches – 100 each on April 8, 15 and29 – while 60 prisoners including 55 fishermen and five civilians werefreed on April 29 before being taken to Lahore through train where theywere handed over to the Indian authorities at Wagah Border.
