ISLAMABAD – National Highway Authority plans to build 216-kilometreGilgit-Shandur road to provide an alternate route to China PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC), reported Radio Pakistan.link>
Official sources of NHA said the project would form part ofGilgit-Shandur-Chitral road for which feasibility study had been completed.
The estimated cost of the project is 45 billion rupees.
The official said new road would be an all-weather road and would alsoprovide an alternative route to CPEC during the winter season when the Silkroute is closed due to snowfall.
After Lowari Tunnel, the new project will be another best possible routefor travelling to the region and will save travel time as well.
