ISLAMABAD – Foreign Airlines from Azerbaijan, Syria and Turkey have decidedto start flight operations in Pakistan, where one million new passengersenter the aviation market annually.
“The aviation industry in Pakistan continues to grow with one millionadditional passengers entering in Pakistan market every year,” saidSecretary for aviation Hassan Nasir Jamy said during a meeting with, vicepresident of Emirates Mohammad Sarhan. Jamy said that Pakistan’s aviationsector is dynamic.
“Many international airlines are interested in starting their operations inthe country, including Pegasus (Turkey), Azal (Azerbaijan) and Shamwing(Syria)”, he said.
“National Aviation Policy 2019 is creating ease of doing business in theaviation sector resulting in improving the image of Pakistan in the globalbusiness industry”, he added.
Last year, the government approved a new aviation policy. Under this, ahost of incentives were proposed to airline operations and aircraftassembling industry to promote tourism.
During the meeting, the secretary gave an instance of Gerry’s Dnata, whichis expanding its operation in Pakistan by opening a cargo facility.
“Passenger facilitation is the priority of the aviation division. For thispurpose CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) is going to introduce E gates inseven major airports of the country’’, he added.
It was acknowledged that the aviation sectors for Pakistan and Dubai arenecessary for economies of the two countries.
The two sides agreed on improving their relationship in aviation. Sarhansaid that Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East. It operatesflights from its hub at Dubai International Airport to more than 150 citiesin 80 countries across six continents.
