A Taliban official says the United States has promised to withdraw half of its troops from Afghanistan by the end of April this year.
Russian news agency RIA quoted Taliban official Abdul Salam Hanafi, who is attending the talks in Moscow, as saying that the assurance was given by US officials at the talks in Doha last month.
Hanafi said Washington and Taliban also agreed that all foreign troops would eventually leave Afghanistan and the country would never be used as a base for attacks on the United States.
