Supreme Court responds over Malik Riaz s Request

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) Thursday directed real estate tycoon MalikRiaz to submit written apology in a contempt of court proceedings withintwo weeks.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard thepetition.

Malik Riaz accused former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and hisson Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, of financial wrongdoings during a press conferencein 2012.

During course of proceedings, Dr Basit counsel for Malik Riaz tendered oralunconditional apology on behalf of his client, and informed the court thathis client, currently, is out of country for medical treatment.

He apprised that his client is suffering from a cancer disease andsubmitted a medical certificate to second his stance.

He also pleaded the court for a 12-week adjournment of the case hearing ashis client is in London for six to eight weeks for medical treatment asproposed by his doctors. Subsequently, the court adjourned the case.
