Abbas asks Pope, world powers, to intervene against US Embassy move

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has urged the Pope and the leaders of Russia, France and Jordan to intervene against Trump’s declared intention to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Abbas’s spokesman Nabil Abu Rdainah said President spoke with the presidents of Russia and France, with the Pope and with King Abdullah of Jordan and urged them to intervene to prevent it from happening.

Earlier, President Donald Trump telephoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today and expressed his intention to move American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Mehmood Abbas warned Donald Trump that such a decision would have dangerous consequences to the peace process and stability of the region and of the world.
