LAHORE – The Supreme Court issued notices to the Punjab government, theprosecution and the accused for forming a new joint investigation team onthe Model Town tragedy.
The two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was hearingat Lahore Registry an application filed by one of the victims Bisma whenPAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri reached the rostrum.
He demanded that a new joint investigation team should be formed on theModel Town tragedy. “The JIT is mandatory as the accused themselves were inthe old JIT. Justice cannot be expected from a partial JIT,” he maintained.

He said that the victims could not appear before the JIT due to governmentpressure and fear.
