ISLAMABAD – The veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was set to hold a pressconference on Wednesday and make a big announcement regarding his future,however, PCB took him in confidence, stopping him from making an emotionaldecision.
According to sources, Hafeez was ready to call it a day and retire since hethought he was no longer a part of Pakistan’s 2019 World Cup plans.
Inzamam-ul-Haq made it quite clear that even those players who haven’t madeit to the squad are still in contention for the all-important World Cup2019. He said that we are trying other combinations for now and Hafeez,especially after being allowed to bowl, is an important part of Pakistancricket team.
Hafeez is a part of the 20-22 players that we are considering for the WorldCup. Hafeez is a good player and now he can bowl as well.
Hafeez also brushed aside the claims of not getting along well with theboard, saying that he accepts the decision with all his heart and wouldlove to play for his country.
There are still a number of series before the World Cup and Hafeez stillhas a role to play, Inzamam said while talking to the media.
