Pakistan Reclaims Spotlight in T20I Rankings with Fresh Faces

Pakistan’s cricketers have made notable progress in the latest ICC T20I rankings following impressive performances during their recent three-match series against the West Indies.

Rising middle-order batter Hassan Nawaz jumped 24 places to reach 30th in the batting rankings with 569 rating points after scoring 79 runs in the series. Saim Ayub, the top run-scorer of the series with 130 runs, including two half-centuries, climbed 25 spots to claim the 37th position with 559 points.

Opener Sahibzada Farhan also impressed, rising 34 places to 63rd after scoring 91 runs. Captain Salman Ali Agha and seasoned campaigner Fakhar Zaman moved up 15 and three spots respectively, now sitting at 76th and 78th.

However, former captain Babar Azam and star batter Mohammad Rizwan saw their rankings decline due to prolonged inactivity in T20Is. Both dropped three spots, with Babar now at 17th and Rizwan at 19th. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, who had a poor outing in the Caribbean, slipped 21 places to 86th with 413 points.

India’s Abhishek Sharma retained his position at the top of the T20I batting charts, followed by Australia’s Travis Head and India’s Tilak Varma in second and third places, respectively.

In the bowling department, no Pakistani bowler features in the top 20. Haris Rauf held steady at 26th with 575 points, while Abbas Afridi fell three spots to 27th. Left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem made a remarkable leap of 69 positions to reach 34th with 542 points. Shaheen Afridi slipped one place to 36th, and Mohammad Nawaz surged 51 spots to 56th with 489 points. Abrar Ahmed dropped nine places to 60th, while vice-captain Shadab Khan fell five places to 72nd.

New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy maintained his top position among bowlers, followed by England’s Adil Rashid. West Indies’ Akeal Hosein climbed into third place, overtaking India’s Varun Chakaravarthy.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, Shadab Khan dropped two spots to 19th. Saim Ayub made an eye-catching leap of 70 places to 24th with 119 points, signaling his growing impact in the shorter format. Mohammad Nawaz climbed 13 positions to 36th, while Abbas Afridi slipped four spots to 56th. Iftikhar Ahmed fell six places to 70th, and Faheem Ashraf improved by five positions to 77th with 58 points.

India’s Hardik Pandya continues to lead the T20I all-rounder rankings, followed by Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi.
