China strongly responds against Indian move on Occupied Kashmir

BEIJING – China strongly responds against Indian move on Occupied Kashmirstatus.

China reacted strongly to the recent move by India regarding the repealingof constitutional clauses as well as the bifurcation of the Kashmir region,equating it with undermining its territorial sovereignty.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswomen Hua Chunying said in a statementTuesday that Beijing has always opposed India’s inclusion of Chineseterritory in the western section of the China-India border.

“The recent unilateral revision of domestic laws by the Indian sidecontinues to undermine China’s territorial sovereignty, which isunacceptable and will not have any effect,” Hua was quoted by Bloombergnews as saying.

When asked about the troops deployment by Modi regime in the restive valleyand escalation of tension, the official in a reply said China was concernedabout the situation.

“China’s position on the Kashmir issue is clear and consistent. It is alsoan international consensus that the Kashmir issue is an issue left from thepast between India and Pakistan. The relevant sides need to exerciserestraint and act prudently,” she said.

Hua called on both sides to refrain from taking actions that willunilaterally change the status quo and escalate tensions.

“We call on both India and Pakistan to peacefully resolve the relevantdisputes through dialogue and consultation and safeguard peace andstability in the region,” she said.

Beijing’s response came a day after India repealed article 370 and article35A of the constitution – the clauses which gave special status to thevalley.

Modi-led BJP regime in India has proposed bifurcation of state of Jammu andKashmir, defying the status of the disputed territory.

In a proposal forwarded on Monday by Home Minister, Amit Shah, Jammu andKashmir would be made one Union Territory and Ladakh will be a separateUnion Territory.
